Terms of Service

Effective Date: July 7, 2026  ·  Last Updated: July 7, 2026

Please read these Terms carefully before using DocVault. By downloading or using the app, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using DocVault ("the App"), you ("User") agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") with Zenerly ("we," "us," or "our"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

These Terms apply to the DocVault mobile application (package ID: app.zenerly.docvault.mobile) and any associated web pages at www.docvault.zenerly.com.

2. No Account Required

DocVault does not require you to create an account or sign in. All vault data is stored on your device. If you choose to connect Google Drive or iCloud for backup, that connection is governed by Google's or Apple's own terms, not ours — we are not a party to it. You are responsible for your device's own security (screen lock, OS updates) and for your DocVault PIN/biometric settings, since anyone with access to your unlocked device and its lock could reach your vault.

3. License to Use

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use DocVault for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Sell, rent, lease, or sublicense the App
  • Use the App for any commercial purpose without prior written consent
  • Remove any copyright or proprietary notices
  • Attempt to bypass or weaken the App's encryption or security features

4. Your Documents

You retain full ownership of every document you store in DocVault. Documents are encrypted on your device and never leave it unless you personally export, share, or back them up — we cannot access or view their content (see our Privacy Policy).

Because there is no account and no recovery mechanism, we cannot recover your documents if you forget your PIN, lose your device, or lose your backup password without a working backup. You are solely responsible for keeping a backup (local export or cloud sync) if losing your vault contents would matter to you.

You are solely responsible for the legality of the documents you store, and for anything you choose to share out of DocVault via your device's share sheet.

5. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use DocVault to:

  • Store or share illegal, harmful, threatening, or otherwise objectionable content
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations in your jurisdiction
  • Infringe on the intellectual property or privacy rights of others
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any systems, networks, or other users' accounts
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App or its associated services
  • Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with security or encryption features of the App

6. Intellectual Property

DocVault and all associated intellectual property — including the software, design, logo, trademarks, and documentation — are owned by Zenerly and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

The DocVault name, "One Vault for Every Important Document" tagline, and logo are trademarks of Zenerly. You may not use these without prior written permission.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

DocVault is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, and without any guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fully secure.

Encryption Key Warning: Because DocVault uses on-device, zero-knowledge encryption with no account or password recovery, we cannot recover your documents if you lose your device, forget your PIN, or forget a backup password. Keep a backup if this data matters to you.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Zenerly be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or revenue arising from your use of the App.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from use of the App shall not exceed $10 USD or the amount you paid for the App in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Zenerly and its affiliates, officers, and employees from any claims, damages, losses, costs, or expenses arising from your use of the App in violation of these Terms, your violation of any law, or content you store or share using the App.

10. Third-Party Services

DocVault optionally connects to Google Drive or Apple iCloud for backup (see our Privacy Policy). Your use of any such service is governed by that service's own terms, not ours.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to withdraw the license granted under §3 at any time for conduct that violates these Terms. Since there is no account to terminate, this means your right to use the App — you may simply stop using DocVault and delete it at any time. See our Account & Data Deletion page if you'd like us to remove any data we hold about you (e.g. an early-access signup).

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in India. For users in the EU, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence may apply in addition to these Terms.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. Material changes will update the "Effective Date" above and, where required, be posted to the app store listing. Continued use of DocVault after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
